1. A Power Lunch sponsored by U.L.R.E. featuring Chellie Cameron, CEO of Philadelphia International Airport, took place on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Union League of Philadelphia. The event began with a reception, luncheon and introductions. Ms. Cameron made remarks about the future of the airport from their point of view. Former Governor Ed Rendell was also an honored guest and spoke about the upcoming Democratic Convention and its effect on the city. The ULRE Mission: is to be the most respected resource for communication of all real estate related information vital in propelling and expanding the community into the future. Ball on the Square 2016

1. Philadelphia’s most anticipated event of the summer returned on Thursday. June 16, 2016, transforming the historic Rittenhouse Square Park into an exquisite ballroom for a black-tie gala.  Presented by Arthur Alan Wolk in Celebration of Boo and hosted by the Friends of Rittenhouse Square, the event helps raise funds to support the complete renovation of the frog, goat and lion planting beds. These improvements will create seasonal interest and color allowing residents, locals and visitors to enjoy the beauty of the park year round. This year’s Preservationist sponsors are Steve and Sabrina Thorne and Richard Vague & The Governor’s Woods Foundation. The Friends of Rittenhouse Square, a 501(c) (3), non-profit organization, was formed in 1976 with a mission to preserve, protect, and beautify Rittenhouse Square. Funds raised by the 2016 Ball on The Square will be directed towards the preservation of Rittenhouse Square. Photo 3LLSThe Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) announced the winners of their Man & Woman of the Year fundraising competition at their Grand Finale on June 10, 2016 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. The two winners were William (Bill) Hauser of Malvern, and Brittany Anderson of Philadelphia who raised $102,687 and $56,085 respectively to support LLS’s mission to find cures for blood cancers and ensure that patients have access to lifesaving treatments. Gaudenzia and Mural Arts unveil indoor mural

1. The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts in partnership with the Gaudenzia program held a mural dedication at the Women with Children Emergency Center in Philadelphia on Monday, July 11.  A collaboration initiated by Mayor Kenney between Gaudenzia and the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program culminated in the unveiling of the mural. The mural helps to provide an uplifting environment in a grim phase of a single-parent family’s life.  Shelters life Gaudenzia’s Safe Haven are vital to providing hope and help in addition to a step towards independence.  (From left) Gaudenzia board member Tobe Amsterdam and artist Nathaniel Lee were pictured in front of mural with Mural Arts Executive Director Jane Golden and Michael Harle, Gaudenzia President and CEO.

Simon’s Fund Summer Soiree

SIMON_GOLF0011. Simon’s Summer Soiree took place at Sunnybrook Golf Club in Plymouth Meeting on Monday, July 11, 2016. The event  featured an outdoor BBQ with live entertainment. Proceeds benefit Simon’s Fund. Simon’s Fund was established in 2005 by Darren and Phyllis Sudman to honor the memory of their son Simon, who died suddenly when he was three months old of an unknown heart defect called Long QT Syndrome. Simon’s Fund raises awareness about the warning signs and conditions that can lead to sudden Cardiac arrest and death in children. It has provided free heart screenings to over 10,000 students. Of those tested, approximately 100 students have discovered potentially fatal heart conditions. Darren and Phyllis Sudman paused for a photo during the event.

Bastille Day celebration at Local 22

1. There’s no better place outside of France to celebrate French National Day than the City of Brotherly Love. On July 12, 2016, attendees joined Chloe
Johnston for a festive Bastille Day Fireman’s Ball at one of Philly’s best kept secret event venues, Local 22 Philadelphia Fire Fighters Union. Located in Northern Liberties, this off-the-beaten-path venue is attached to the Local 22 fire station, which means guests not only got to enjoy a night of reveling à la française, you’ll also have a chance to chat up Philadelphia’s finest firefighters and snap some photos aboard one of the station’s trucks! Proceeds from a raffle purchase will go toward the Local 22 Fireman’s Widows Fund. Samantha Herson, Cassie Hepler, Chloe Johnston and Dawn Warden paused for

2. Modeled after the traditional Bastille Day festivities in Paris, where fire stations open their doors to the public for a day (and night!) of merrymaking,
this event brought a French revolutionary spirit to Philadelphia, the birthplace of freedom and independence. Also known as ‘La Fête Nationale’ or more
commonly, ‘Le Quatorze Juillet’ (the 14th of July), this national holiday commemorates the start of the French Revolution and the formation of the French Republic in 1789. Chloe Johnston of Chloe Johnston Experience’s, Diner en Blanc co-chair Natanya DiBona, E.M. Ricchini and Michele Baymor celebrated Bastille Day at Local 22.

1. Philadelphia Style invited guests to join Publisher John Colabelli and Editor-in-Chief Kristin Detterline for the magazine’s 12th Annual Best of Style Party.
This year’s theme, “Style on Broadway” immersed guests in a musical and theatrical ambiance appropriately set inside the expansive and picturesque Kimmel Center. More than 1,200 guests dressed to impress lined the block as they awaited being photographed upon arrival, followed by an evening of extravagance with notable Philadelphia socialites, dignitaries and celebrities. A stunning array of stylish cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts by local Best of Style winners awaited guests in addition to live entertainment and an exclusive casino room presented by Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. All proceeds from the casino room benefits the Borgata Heart & Soul Foundation, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to impacting the lives of others in a positive way through supporting community, health and human services, culture and education. CDI holds 30th Annual International BBQ

1. Citizen Diplomacy International’s 30th Annual International BBQ took place on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the National Museum of American Jewish History on Independence Mall. This year (2016) marks the 50th anniversary of Philadelphia’s Sister City relationship with Tel Aviv, Israel which was celebrated at the event. They also celebrated significant anniversaries with Torun, Poland; Douala, Cameroon; Kobe, Japan and Frankfurt, Germany. All of these anniversaries, as well as their other Sister City relationships, were commemorated at the event.  Funds raised through the event support CDI’s one-one-one international relations work for the U.S. Department of State and Philadelphia’s Sister Cities Program, all geared to make friends and provide an accurate image of the U.S. around the world. The IMPACT Award will be presented for the first time to Andrea and Abraham Morris. This award was created to recognize those whose support has played a critical role in LBBC’s evolution. Danley is within walking distance of commuter trains, shops, restaurants and Bryn Mawr Hospital. It features stacked twins, designed to look like conventional twin homes, and traditional townhomes at the rear of the site. Wayne Art Center opens exhibition of student works

1. On Thursday, July 21, 2016 an exhibition of works in painting, drawing,
sculpture, craft, ceramics, stained glass, fiber, jewelry, photography and works on paper and mixed media, executed by its 2016 students, opened to the public at the Wayne Art Center. Award winners were announced at the reception and the exhibition will continue through Monday, August 15. Established in 1930 as the first art center in the Main Line suburbs of Philadelphia, The Wayne Art Center offers instruction for all ages in the visual arts, crafts, music, culinary arts, and drama. On Friday, July 22, 2016, Woodmere Art Museum in Chestnut Hill held a Pop-Up party for the arrival of the Harry Bertoia fountain sculpture ”Free
Interpretation of Plant Forms” (1967). The sculpture was completed by the artist in 1967 for a prominent position outside the Philadelphia Civic Center. It
