Concours D’Elegance celebrates its 20th anniversary

1. The Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance 20th Annual event took place on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Each year, the concours event has a featured marque, a vehicle type or coachbuilder and a motorcycle make. The 2016 event showcased the most interesting and significant Lancias, previous Concours winners and 300SL Mercedes-Benz.  Motorcycles were from Land of the Rising Sun and Fast from the Past. Event proceeds benefit Thorncroft Equestrian Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The Thorncroft Equestrian Center is committed to a mainstreaming approach for teaching horseback riding and to promoting the development of new and independent therapeutic riding programs, particularly for those with special needs. LOL for Alzheimer’s at the Logan Hotel

1. The Alzheimer’s Association presented its inaugural #LOLforAlzheimer’s Event on September 17, 2016 at the Logan Hotel in Philadelphia. The event featured Saturday Night Live writer/comedian John Mulaney. Each committee member has had a personal connection with the fatal neurodegenerative disease, and the group hoped to raise at least $350,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association serving the Philadelphia region. 1. On Sunday, September 18, 2016, Party with a Purpose hosted its fundraising gala to benefit the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) at the Union League in Philadelphia. 1. On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, ”Couture for a Cure,” put fall fashions from acclaimed design team Badgley Mischka on the runway during a gathering at King of Prussia Mall’s Neiman Marcus. Proceeds from Couture for a Cure, dedicated to the memory of Sheila Engelbach, will benefit the Abramson Cancer Center’s new Lymphoma Translation Center for Excellence, whose researchers are working to redefine the diagnostic and treatment approaches to lymphoma through new precision medicine strategies. The Abramson Cancer Center is a world leader in cancer research, patient care, and education. This year’s fundraiser hosted by The Main Line Committee for The Philadelphia Orchestra will be an antiques and jewelry valuation event ”Notable or Not?” Attendees will be able to bring their treasured items to St. Davids Golf Club in Wayne on Saturday October 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Freeman’s international specialists will provide verbal auction estimates. Freeman’s is the oldest auction house in America providing service for seven generations, with specific expertise in fine art, antiques and jewelry as to their worth in today’s market. 1. On Thursday, September 22, 2016 Suzanne and Norman Cohn hosted the Glass Auction Gala opening party at their stunning home in Philadelphia. The Gala itself is taking place at the Marriott Downtown (12th & Market) on Saturday, September 24. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the Auction/Gala begins at 7 p.m. This year they are honoring Glass Curator Arlene Silvers, who for nearly two decades has spearheaded the event. Contemporary glass artists have all put forward their best works in honor of Arlene, who is beloved in the glass art community and the  honorary chair is Dale Chihuly. The Glass Auction & Gala celebrates the National Liberty Museum’s mission to preserve America’s heritage of freedom by fostering good character, civic responsibility, and respect for all people, through the museum’s chosen art medium: glass. An Evening of Giving at the King of Prussia Mall

1. The King of Prussia Mall held its first annual Evening of Giving on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Benefitting Abramson Cancer Center, guests were treated to a private, after-hours shopping experience in the mall’s new, 155,000-square-foot expansion with live entertainment, fashion vignettes and a special appearance by The Real Housewives of New York City personality and Skinnygirl Founder, Bethenny Frankel. King of Prussia made a matching donation of up to $25,000 of the evening sales to Abramson Cancer Center. Special Guest Bethenny Frankel hosted interactive demonstrations showing attendees how to get creative with some of the tasty offerings from Savor King of Prussia restaurants. The demonstrations were followed by a brief Q&A and autograph session with fans. Bethenny Frankel signed an autograph for Conni McDonnell of Touché Accessories.

12th Annual Historic Tredyffrin Preservation Trust House Tour

1. The Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust 12th Annual Historic House Tour took place on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Beautiful properties and gardens were open from noon to 5 p.m rain or shine and featured an interesting mix of eight residences. The Trust is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in 2001 in response to the threat to demolish the historic eighteenth century Jones Log Barn. The Trust’s mission is to preserve and protect historic and
cultural resources in Tredyffrin Township for the benefit of present and future generations and to educate the public about the preservation and protection

Seventh Annual Minding Your Mind Blue Gene Gala

1. On Sunday, September 25, 2016, Minding Your Minds’s Blue Gene Gala took place at the Lutheran Deaconess House in Gladwyne. Guests enjoyed a garden party, food, cocktails and a presentation in a tented area on the property. Minding Your Mind’s primary objective is to improve the lives of adolescents and young adults by providing education aimed at reducing the stigma and the destructive attitudes and behaviors associated with an often avoided topic, mental illness. During the past eight years, through their speaker program, MYM has reached hundreds of thousands of college, high school and middle school students throughout the five county Philadelphia area, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and beyond. drinks. Mission Kids is a nationally accredited Child Advocacy Center in Montgomery County. It eases the criminal justice process for abused children while helping them heal from abuse. 1. The annual St. David’s Country Fair and Auction took place on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and this year marked the 300th anniversary of the founding of the church. St. David’s 165th Fair is the longest running church fair in the nation. The fair featured a day of family fun and remarkable treasures, great finds in the Fleas, Books and Second Hand Rose stalls and great food with everything from burgers and chili to omelets. Rev. 1. The Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association’s seventh annual Green Ribbon Gala took place on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Andee and Brad Heffler’s beautifully renovated farmhouse. Guests gathered for an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and live music as they celebrated the rich history of protecting land, water, and life in the Wissahickon Watershed. Following a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception the festivities moved outside where all guests enjoyed the extraordinary surroundings of this 25-acre farm, dedicated to the practice of Parelli Natural Horsemanship. The Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association (WVWA) is a non-profit land trust founded in 1957 to protect the quality and the beauty of the Wissahickon Creek.
