1. Members of the Bryn Mawr Hospital Women’s Board gathered at Jeanie Fischer’s home to address invitations to ‘Fashion Emergency,’ an evening of cocktails, fashion and shopping benefiting the Women’s Emotional Wellness
Center. The event will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the Barn at Liseter in Newtown Square.”Skirtin’ the Winter Blues” will also feature a fashion show by Skirt, a boutique in Bryn Mawr. LLS hosts Red & White Ball Patron Party at Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Radnor Township

(Photos by Mike Hirata)LLSPhoto 16The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) hosted their Red & White Ball Patron Party to thank high level sponsors and volunteers on January 23, 2017 at Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Radnor Township. The Red & White Ball has become Philadelphia’s premier social event of the season! In nearly three years, the black tie gala has raised nearly $1.5 million dollars for the LLS mission to cure blood cancers. More than 600 people from Greater Philadelphia are expected to attend the Fourth Annual Red & White Ball on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the
Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Hotel to raise money for LLS mission. The event will also honor Jazz Pharmaceuticals with the Diamond Award in their fight against blood cancers. The event also boasts a Mercedes-Benz raffle featuring the all-new 2017 GLC300 4MATIC SUV. The vehicle was generously donated, which means LLS receives 100% of the ticket sales. The winner will be announced the night of the Red & White Ball. Winning ticket holder does not need to be present to win. Visit www.redwhiteballphilly.org/raffle to learn more about the Mercedes-Benz raffle. The black-tie gala is expected to raise more than $650,000 on behalf of the LLS’s Eastern PA Chapter. ‘Music in Memory’ raises funds for Ryan’s House and introduces FADD

1. Main Line residents and friends Sara Moyher and Wendy Monaghan of Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach Wayne, hosted a benefit concert to help raise funds for men in recovery as well as introduce FADD – Families Against
Drug Deaths. “Music in Memory” took place on Thursday, January 26, 2017, and featured recovering musicians performing live at New Leaf Club at 1225, Montrose Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages were included. Sara Moyher of Newtown Square hosted this event in memory of her brother Jeremy DeFelice and Wendy Monaghan co-hosted the fundraiser to celebrate the life of her son, Ryan Monaghan. Together, Sara and Wendy share in the goal to save the lives of those in recovery by helping to raise funds for Ryan’s House in Newtown Square, a sober home for men in recovery. “Music in Memory” also served as a forum to announce the launch of a local organization called FADD – Families Against Drug Deaths. Sara Moyher, Wendy Monaghan, along with the event’s supporters, Nancy Marcus Newman, Founder, The Bridge Foundation; Katie Burlingham, Marketing Director, The New Leaf Club; and Chris Waddell, Director, Rockers in Recovery Unplugged are the founding members of FADD. The mission of FADD is to host monthly open house meetings for individuals of all ages to learn more about the rampant increase of drug use in our communities, the necessary resources available should you or someone you know is abusing drugs, and the next steps to take to ensure a healthy recovery. The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur’s 44th Annual Fine Art Show and Sale continues through Sunday, February 5, 2017

1. The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur in Villanova, PA, is holding its 44th Annual Fine Art Show and Sale from Friday, January 27 through Sunday, February 5, 2017. The exhibition and sale opened with a catered preview reception with the artists on Friday, January 27, 2017, in the Academy Mansion, located at 560 Sproul Road in Villanova, PA. Chairing the Art Show this year is Denick Herrin. The fine art show will be on display from noon to 4 p.m. daily beginning Saturday, January 28 through Sunday, February 5, 2017. The exhibition features nearly 100 artists’ works in a variety of mediums, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, sculptures, ceramics, and glass. The weeklong exhibit is free of charge and open to the public from Saturday, January 28 through Sunday, February 5, 2017. For more Information, visit www.ndapa.org/artshow. 2. This year’s featured artist is Philadelphia area resident, Liz Finley. Liz is known for her rich, colorful seascapes and landscapes of Philadelphia and its surroundings, and for interesting takes on the still life. A strong sense of composition and subject knowledge combines with a lively, creative color scheme to produce vibrant images that are realistic with a lean towards impressionistic. Liz was honored in 2014 by being invited to participate in a two-person Seascape show at Accent Gallery in Ocean City, New Jersey. Her work is regularly
displayed at juried shows at the Philadelphia Sketch Club, Wayne Art Center, Main Line Art Center, Chester County Art Center, the Devon Horse Show Sale, Delaware Valley Art League and the Notre Dame Academy Art Show, and has received recognition through prizes awarded at several shows. A variety of recent paintings can be viewed on her website at www.lizfinley.com. Liz and her husband Paul Finley were pictured in front of some of her works of art during last night’s preview party.

Auto Show 2017 kicks off with Black Tie Tailgate party

1. The Black Tie Tailgate, a kick-off for the Philadelphia Auto Show, took place on Friday, January 27, 2017. Guests enjoyed cocktails, an exciting menu and live entertainment while getting the first glimpse of the hot production, exotic and antique vehicles on display at the Show in the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The event is sponsored by ADAGP Charitable Foundation who have been supporting to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia since 1986. Cumulative giving to the Hospital tops $6.9 million. These funds support the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Patient Welcome Center in the Richard D. Wood Pediatric Ambulatory Care Center and directly benefit several departments within the Hospital. The Philadelphia Auto Show will continue through February 5, 2017. CHOP Urology Department members were pictured with the Auto Show mascot!

1. The 160th Anniversary Concert and Ball, Philadelphia’s premier annual white-tie gala, celebrated this iconic building’s 160th birthday on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin and The Philadelphia Orchestra along with special guest Martin Short, dazzled attendees during the concert. It was a
spectacular evening of music, dining, and dancing. The white-tie event began with an Open House reception before the Anniversary Concert at the Academy of Music. The Ball including dinner and dancing to the music of six bands followed at the Hyatt at the Bellevue Hotel. Proceeds contribute to the restoration and reservation of The Academy of Music, a national historic landmark. 1. The 2017 Philadelphia Heart Ball took place at on Saturday, February 4, at the Marriott Hotel in Center City, Philadelphia. Each year, community members, medical professionals and corporate leaders come together to celebrate the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association. For years, the Heart Ball has helped to advance the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association, a mission that has impacted the lives of thousands of men, women and children throughout the greater Philadelphia area. Contributions received go far in supporting cardiovascular research, professional and community education,

Plymouth Meeting based Simon’s Fund hosted more than 300 attendees for Simon’s Soiree, an event to raise awareness about the warning signs and conditions that can lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death in children.   Simon’s Soiree is the eighth annual benefit gala for Simon’s Fund. The gala was expected to raise than $200,000 to allow Simon’s Fund to continue their work in checking hearts and saving lives.  The event held at the Sheraton Valley Forge Hotel, included an auction, cocktails, dinner, an awards presentation and dancing. The Heart Gala 2017 included dancing to the sounds of Connie Pelesh with the Upfront Band, a delicious full-course Surf-n-Turf Dinner, open bar and silent and live auctions. All proceeds benefit Country Day School of the Sacred Heart. The Mothers’ Association seeks to foster a spirit of goodwill within the school community and assist Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in financial support and opportunity to the faculty and students. 1. Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter supporters attended “Party in Purple” a benefit for the cause at The Franklin Institute, Saturday, February 11, 2017. Partygoers danced throughout the evening and enjoyed an open bar and buffet stations. The event also featured the opportunity to explore FI’s ‘Your Brain’ exhibit, which aligns perfectly with the Alzheimer’s Association’s focus on the brain and how Alzheimer’s affects it. “Party in Purple” was hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter’s Junior Committee and benefits chapter programs and services, including early-stage initiatives, caregiver support groups, consumer education, free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) and more. Coinciding with the centenary of America’s involvement with the war, World War I and American Art is the first major exhibition devoted to exploring the ways in which American artists responded to the First World War.  A tour of the exhibition took place during PAFA After Dark on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. The exhibit continues through April 9, 2017.

The fashion boutique on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia honored African American women who make a difference in the Philadelphia community. The annual awards ceremony was hosted by Tuesday Gordon at Joan Shepp and featured an incredible evening of shopping, music, drinks, and food! Ten percent of the proceeds from the event was donated to The American Civil Liberties Union – to defend and protect the liberties of all Americans. NFL Cheerleader Directors visit Philadelphia and prepare for the NFL Draft

NFL_VISIT0011. The NFL Cheerleader Directors were in Philadelphia during the week of February 20, 2017 in preparation for the NFL Draft taking place April 27-29 in Center City. As part of the visit, they were given a special tour around town topped off with a stop at one of the city’s most popular landmark shopping destinations, Nicole Miller at The Bellevue. Upon their arrival, the guests received a special Philadelphia welcome by the NFL Eagles Cheerleaders and Eagles Mascot Swoop. Eagles tight end Brent Celek was also on hand to greet the group as they enjoyed a night of private shopping at Nicole Miller while sipping champagne and nibbling hors d’oeuvres from, bop, also located at The Bellevue. This exclusive event highlights the NFL Cheerleader Directors’ visit to Philadelphia and provides a preview of what’s in store as the city prepares for the upcoming 82nd Annual NFL Draft.
