Simon’s Fund was established in 2005 by Darren and Phyllis Sudman to honor the memory of their son Simon, who died suddenly when he was three months old of this then unknown heart defect called Long QT Syndrome. Phyllis Sudman of co-founder of Simon’s Fund joined Wizov family members, Ryan and Michelle and their three children Charlotte, Jake and Sam, during the fundraiser. On July 10, 2015, then 9-year old , Sam Wizov, suffered a tragic pool accident while on vacation with his family in Virginia. He had a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) while swimming, which led to a near fatal drowning. This was diagnosed to have been triggered by a condition called Long QT Syndrome (LQTS). This is a condition that generally goes undetected until an event such as this occurs. Sam was revived after 26 minutes of CPR by use of an AED. He was airlifted to VCU in Richmond VA and in a coma on life support for 6 days.
