The Friends of the AACR Foundation hosted the Party with a Purpose gala benefiting the American Association for Cancer Research on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at The Union League of Philadelphia. Guests enjoyed one of the area’s premier events during an exciting evening filled with an elegant dinner, a spectacular auction and much more!  This year proceeds benefit brain tumor research. Super Bowl Champion Ashlon Jeffery hosts Boys & Girls Club fundraiser at Saks Fifth Avenue

1. On Monday, October 21 2019, Philadelphia Eagle Super Bowl Champion Alshon Jeffery hosted a fundraiser to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia. The event took place at Saks Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Guests enjoyed cocktails, butlered hors d’oeuvres and shopping during the event at Saks Fifth Avenue. Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia have been serving youth in Philadelphia’s most impoverished communities for over 131 years. Their mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Saks donated 10 percent of purchases to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia. Executive Vice President of Programs Jerry Houck, Alshon Jeffery and Saks General Manager Ryan Williams paused for a photo during the event. Saks is also celebrating 50 years of being in Philadelphia.

On Friday, October 25, 2019 The Barnes Foundation honored the trendsetters of yesterday and today, as they celebrated Henri Matisse’s 150th birthday and previewed the contemporary art exhibition 30 Americans during the Barnes Art Ball. Drawn from the exceptional Rubell Family Collection and on view in the Roberts Gallery, 30 Americans presents works by 30 important and influential contemporary African American artists. From the canonical to the cutting-edge, these artists explore identity against a backdrop of pervasive stereotyping—of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and class—addressing intersectional politics in unique and powerful ways.The Barnes presentation marks the tenth

1. Philly Fights Cancer: Round 5 is the annual fundraising event of Philly Fights Cancer, the main fundraising channel for the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine. The event took place at the Navy Yard on Saturday, October 26, 2019. More than 2,000 guests attended. The organization has raised over $39 million dollars for the Abramson Cancer Center since 2015. Talent for this year’s Philly Fights Cancer event was master of screen and stage Hugh Jackman, former SNL writer and Emmy-winning comedian John Mulaney, as well as Multi-platinum selling pop artist Andy Grammer. In addition to incredible talent, this year Philly Fights Cancer was privileged to honor the Breast Cancer Clinical Investigative Team at the Abramson Cancer Center. The team meets weekly to discuss each patient’s
treatment, resulting in the most advanced high- tech personalized care – providing education, compassionate care and the support needed to help each patient navigate their diagnosis and treatment plans. Philly Fights Cancer was also delighted to honor two loyal supporters and friends of Philly Fights Cancer, Margaret Anne and Jim Nolen. 1. On Tuesday, October 29, 2019 a special evening of shopping with some of the Main Line’s favorite designers, Lisi Lerch. Neely and Chloe, Crab and Cleek and Giddy Paperie took place in the Barn at Valley Forge Flowers. The trunk show featured wine, hors d’oeuvres and holiday shopping. Valley Forge Flowers produces innovative floral and garden creations and also decorates private homes for holidays and special occasions. They provide interior and exterior design support, and coordinates events ranging in size from intimate dinners to festively-scaled galas and weddings. 1. The James Beard Foundation hosted a Gala Dinner at Fitler Club on Friday, November 1, 2019. The event began with a VIP reception with guests and award-winning Chefs including Host Chef Marc Vetri, Local All-Star Mike Solomonov and National All-Star Michelle Bernstein— and Co-Chairs including, Jeff Guaracino, CEO of Visit Philly, Ellen Yin, Founder of High Street Hospitality and many others. 1. The 9th annual Notable Kitchen Tour & Chef Showcase took place on Thursday, November 7, 2019. The Main Line Committee for The Philadelphia Orchestra presented this exciting tour of some of the Main Line’s newest and unique kitchens for the benefit of The Philadelphia Orchestra. The self-guided tour featured Main Line homes where each of the kitchens featured a cooking demonstration by a
“notable” chef and taste-testing samples available for all visitors. Floral designs and unique table settings by local retailers were also presented in each home. The Main Line Committee is one of the volunteer committees dedicated to supporting the work of The Philadelphia Orchestra. White Dog Cafe to offer commissioned painting by Jay McClellan to benefit BVSPCA and Alpha Bravo Canine and hang at new White Dog Glen Mills

Set to open in early 2020, White Dog Cafe, Glen Mills will offer award-wining contemporary American Cuisine made with local, seasonal and sustainably raised ingredients, as well as a unique dog inspired décor.White Dog Cafe Glen Mills is offering the public the opportunity to immortalize their favorite pup with a personalized painting that will hang in the restaurant.

Artist Jay McClellan is offering 38 custom paintings, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit both Brandywine Valley SPCA and Alpha Bravo Canine, which provides service dogs free of charge to former military with PTSD. McClellan’s sentimental and decorative works cover the walls at White Dog Cafe Haverford and at White Dog University City. His paintings juxtapose bold colors with graphic patterns and unique designs. In addition to the custom painting that will hang at White Dog Glen Mills, McClellan will give those that purchase the paintings the original drawing of the painting (a $250 value) and a small brass plate with the dog’s name and hometown will hang on the wall besides each commissioned work. McClellan is donating half the fee of each of the paintings to Brandywine Valley SPCA and Alpha Bravo Canine.

1. CureDuchenne’s annual event to raise funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy took place at the Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia on Saturday, November 16, 2019. It’s a night when Philadelphians and area residents come together to make a huge difference for the thousands of boys suffering from fatal Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This celebration and fundraiser brings together notable VIP’s, business and community leaders of Philadelphia. The event featured cocktails, wines and delicious gourmet foods with music and a sit down dinner. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy causes muscle degeneration that impacts one in every 3,500 boys. Boys are usually diagnosed by age five, lose their ability to walk by age 12 and most don’t survive their mid-20s. The disorder knows no ethnic or social boundaries. Research funded by CureDuchenne is providing real hope to improve and save lives of those with Duchenne. CureDuchenne  committee members gathered for a photo at the cocktail reception.
